You don't need to Ask for Forgiveness

Welcome once again, it’s a pleasure you are reading this.

Everyone is a sinner, and there is a tendency to be given another chance only if you ask for forgiveness. But over the time, I do think that asking for forgiveness shouldn't be the only way to attract God's mercy, there should be another way or another system and at last I found it!

Recently, I came across the story of a woman in the Bible, though I have read this story a couple of times before but on this particular day, the Holy Spirit interpreted this story to me in another dimension and He quicken my understanding to relate it to my old thesis about forgiveness.

It’s the story of Maria, a woman who was known throughout the whole town to be living in sin, but in her heart, she desperately needs forgiveness which I think she found so hard to ask because of the magnitude of her sins. But she found another way to receive forgiveness without asking.

What did she do?

How did she do it?

Now let's go through it together............

First, she took Advantage of His presence. 

    

The first step this woman took was to effectively utilise the presence of Jesus in her town for her own good.

Luke 7 vs. 

36. Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so He went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. 

37 When a woman who had lived a SINFUL LIFE in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she........

Let's stop there for a moment. From that verse, you will observe that Jesus didn't go to the woman's house, in fact, He is not in town because of her, but because this woman needs forgiveness and her sin is so much that she was ashamed of asking Jesus for forgiveness, she went to Him and do something extra ordinary...........

Her second move was to do something Unbelievable!

After she heard that Jesus was in town, she decided to do something that no one else in that town can do, even the disciples of Jesus.

'“She brought an alabaster jar of perfume, 38. And as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.”

I see this woman as one of the wisest women who has ever lived. She knows how to attract mercy without asking! She understands what needs to be done to acquire favour! 

She didn't bring the jar to Jesus as a gift only, because His disciples may sell it, she brought it and used it on Jesus with tears and immediately, Jesus realises what she wanted and said to Simon….. 

41. "Two men owed money to a certain money-lender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he cancelled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"

43. Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt cancelled."

"You have judged correctly," Jesus said.

Now, let's see the perception Jesus about what she did exactly.........

“44. Then He turned towards the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven-for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

48 Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."

I was so surprise that Jesus forgave the woman even when she didn't even ask for it!

This proves that you don't need to ask!

All you need to do is go to His presence, show that you love Him and do something surprising, uncommon, extra ordinary and unbelivable for Him.

You may ask what can you do to surprise God?? 

Well, it is simple, if you can do something for Him that surprises His people, you are on point.

You can acquire your own forgiveness by Giving, Sowing a seed into His work, Caring for His people especially the ministers, winning souls and so on. There is just a lot to do for Him; all you have to do is to be sensitive to dangle into the one that will buy you your forgiveness.

Now, understand that Maria only did this once. You cannot continue in sin after forgiveness and expect grace to increase (Rom6:1), go and sin no more.
