SIX POWERFUL ATTRIBUTES OF AN EFFECTIVE VISION

If you are reading this, make sure you have read my last piece where I discussed fully about how you can have vision with your purpose.

The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose. Purpose gives directions to the ways of life, which means a purposeless being struggle with life.

Vision on the other side is impossible without a purpose. Vision is a visualisation of something that you don't have right now.
If you have ever desired something that you don't have right now, and have imagined the picture of you having that, you've had a vision.
Read my last post to understand more about vision.

Today I want to share with you, the SIX POWERFUL ATTRIBUTES OF AN EFFECTIVE VISION.
For your vision to be effective, it must satisfy the following attributes

It must be BIG

There is no point looking forward to become something you have the capacity to become right now. Your vision must be one that challenges you. Big and challengeable vision is the only difference between great achievers and an ordinary man. You should endeavour to challenge yourself, to grow and become a person with a bigger capacity for achieving. The way to achieve this is to create a vision that will stretch you physically and mentally.

It must be ACHIEVABLE

This might come across as rather contradictory to my first point, you may be confused about how both of them can be possible at the same time, but they actually go hand in hand. No matter how big your vision is, you must make sure it is achievable. Achievement is what differentiates vision from a dream. For your vision to be effective it should be reasonable and you must see yourself capable to realise it.

It must be CLEAR

An effective vision is never confusing. It’s always so clear and easily defined. You must have a clear picture of what you want, this will make it very simple to define and very easy for others to picture exactly. A clear picture needs specifics. Anyone you define it for must be able to see exactly the same. Set a concrete figure to your desires if need be, that shows the level of clarity in the vision.

It must have a DEADLINE

An effective vision must have a deadline. You may have answers to what you want, what you want to accomplish, what you want to become, and where you want to find yourself, but as long as you still don't have answers to the 'WHEN', your vision is incomplete. You must set a time frame to accomplish your big, clear and achievable vision. Set a deadline, promise yourself to accomplish it and communicate it to people, don't be afraid, it will pass a message of seriousness, determination and confidence. It will also force you to be focus, and give you a tremendous sense of urgency which will motivate you to accomplish it.

It must be DOCUMENTED

An effective vision doesn't stay in the head only, you must properly document everything. This is another quality that sets vision apart from dreams. Forming mental images or concepts of what is not actually present to the senses is pure imagination, the moment you pick your pen and draw out what you see with a concrete intent of achieving it, it becomes your vision. So stop dreaming! Stop imagining!  Document it to make it effective. Create a step by step strategies and achievement procedures.

It must be ACTION ORIENTED

You will agree with me that all the qualities I have discussed above are very easy and can be achieved by anyone within a short period of time. But this part is not for everyone. This part is the reason why glorious visions falter and fail. Vision without action is purely a dream and a complete hallucination. It is a waste of time and a waste of mental resources to spend time envisioning and not take action at the end of the day. Nothing annoys more than a great idea which never gets acted on. Vision and action are literally the only way to create anything. Telling what the future holds for you is not enough; making it happen is your ultimate test. Challenge yourself today and start taking necessary actions.

  1. Oh yes, so simple and straight forward. God bless you.

Also, I think proper planning should be another attribute of an effective vision. Vision without plans is difficult to achieve.
