Peculiarities of the Eagle

After my little research on eagles here are my findings:

Eagles are large, powerfully built birds of prey, with a heavy head and beak. Like all birds of prey, eagles have very large hooked beaks for tearing flesh from their prey, strong muscular legs, and powerful talons.
An eagle has a strong vision up to 3 kilometers while flying in the sky. He has two foveae, or centers of focus, that allows the bird to look in the front and the side at the same time. An eagle's eye is almost as large as a human's, but its sharpness is at least four times more than that of a person with perfect vision , which enables them to spot potential prey from a very long distance.

Eagles have many distinctive characteristic; some of which are:

1. Good vision
2. They soar high
3. Vitality
4. fearless
5. They never feed on dead meat
6. They nurture their younger ones

The purpose of this review is for us to consider how much we can learn from this distinguished creature; Their unique character is worth possessing. Eagles are quite alert to what is going on in their environment. We as an individual need to exercise a bit of this quality, we live in an environment that is constantly changing, In order to survive, we need to be focus, have a clear vision, go after them as eagles soar after their prey.

You will never see an eagle mingling or having a mini get together with chickens or pigeon. They are always with other eagles flying high, as the saying goes “birds of same feather flock together”. Chickens and pigeons are found on the ground waiting around for their next meal, eagles on the other hand are actively high up, looking for opportunities. As Dr. Martin Luther King once said “If you can’t fly run, if you can’t run walk, if you can’t walk crawl, but whatever you do keep moving forward….” And most definitely you will soar high one day.

At about the age of 30, the health of an eagle Deteriorate, its long and sharp beak becomes bent, its old aged heavy wings due to the thick feathers becomes stuck to its chest, this makes it difficult to fly and hunt effectively. This is where vitality comes in; instead of giving up, it goes on top of the mountain and regains its energy. This change last about 150 days, the eagle knock out its beaks against the rock until it comes off, plucks out its talons and then feathers. it then wait for new feathers to grow back. After this process the eagle now take a victorious flight of rebirth, allowing the eagle to live for another 30 - 40 years. Relating this to me and you; we need a good retreat at times, this will enable us to take a good inventory of our life. Put our minds in place, set new goals, regain back the energy that life at one point might have suck out of us.

True eagle are expected to feed on right food. Read books, get inspired, and spend time with leaders and mentors that will put us through to the right path. We have to be with people who can think, make informed decisions and take actions. We are what we eat; whatever we take in is what will reflect. We can’t expect a person that is on burger, chips, and kebab and fizzy drinks strict diet week by week to look like that of a person that eats his or her 5-a-day, greens and a good intake of water to be the same. We ought to be cautious of what we take in through our eyes, ears and mouth. Most importantly; feed on the word of God; an eagle Christian is one who is burdened with the word.

It’s been said that no member of the bird family is more gentle and attentive to its young ones than the eagles. While in training the mother eagle will gathers the eaglets onto her back, and spreading her wings, flies high. Suddenly she leaps out from under the eaglet and allows them to fall. As they fall, they gradually learn what their wings are for until the mother catches them once again. The process is repeated. The eaglets may feel like their parents are cruel to them; but what they are doing is teaching them the principles of life; how to feed on their own and how to face the hardship of life.  Many are times we as believers are in our own world, doing our own thing, in our comfort zone, but God is trying to take us to another height, we need to take his lead, enjoy the ride and fresh air; trusting that he will take us under his wing.

"but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint"  (Isaiah 40:31 NIV)

Note: May we all soar high like eagles! Possess some of the fine characters of an eagle, live like loyalty and enjoy the finest meal that God has prepared for you.

God Bless
