Don't be a Bottleneck

"The best way to get things done is to do it yourself"- Unknown

Some people have come to believe the above quote so well that, they literally do most of the "jobs". Getting a job done....done well is the target, but should we wear ourselves thin because of that? Do we have to stretch ourselves till we are no longer fit to get the job done? Do you have to shatter yourself mentally and physically so as to get something done by doing it yourself? Are we so credit starved that instead of sharing responsibility, we stick our neck into job so as to be sole beneficiary of the credits? Are we too scared to allow our subordinate to outshine us?

The Business Gospel

A reading according to Tomisin Chapter 1: Verses1-10

1And thy spirit of business came upon me and said to me “Take this words I have given thou today and share it among thy readers’ I tell thou most solemnly, none of these words shall be useful unless well managed and applied.

2When the time came for me to show you income, no one can stop me but your attitude and your nonchalant approach to dealing with me. Verily I say unto you, no entrepreneur shall earn a long time profit except it comes through creativity and following my words cautiously. 3Pursue the creation of income… Not wealth. The world I created is full of majority of people who reach old age near the poverty level. If thou do not begin doing what few people who get it right are doing, you will become a very sad statistic.4The truth is thy research and thy application can take thou where thou desire to go. Please do not let the devil deceive you otherwise.

Tope Aigba : Are We Our Brothers' Keeper?

Some months ago, we woke up to the news of losing one of our prominent daughters Ewa, a make-up artist, during child birth.

Last week, Iyke @judgeiyke and Opeyemi @flofash's conversations on twitter brought it up again. It was in the course of following their conversation that I knew that Nigeria ranked 2nd in the global index of maternal deaths.

One begins to wonder why this should be so in a country that is so rich and blessed!

The Amazing Miracle

It was on a Friday; 29th of October, 1982 inside a blue coloured Peugeot 505 at around 1:35am in the morning. I was born. Yes, I was born inside the car just three blocks from the State hospital. Oh, and the car wasn't my parents'. It was neighbours'.

I made my amazing entrance inside a car. The amazing miracle couldn't wait to make his entrance. I wanted to see the world as soon as possible. I wanted to breathe fresh air, feel touch, smile and laugh.
I remembered my mum telling me that I ran to meet her the first day I walked. Impatient as ever to get things done, I didn’t even wait to crawl too. She also said that I brought out four milk teeth at once! What a child!
Being the first child, I had to grow a little fast. I had to be responsible for my younger ones. I had to take care of them, feed them and generally be their Voltron.

Beautiful Past

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Søren

How many times have we heard the phrase about forgetting the past. Letting go of the past so as to enjoy the present and focus on the future. Well if you haven't heard that before, which I seriously doubt, here is what Buddha says about the past. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." It's really cool huh? Yes it is. Don't dwell on the past, forget the past and move on. That statement is so true and holds some truth in itself, but...

Surround Yourself With Positive People

We all have a purpose in this world; something that we were meant to do to make a difference and help make the world a better place. Each and every one of us has a special gift inside of us that makes us unique, and it’s only a matter of time before we realize what that special gift is, how to open it up, and how to share it with the world. After all, the world won’t know what you are capable of until you show them. Right? Tapping into this power requires a combination of things (i.e. Being optimistic about life, having a strong desire to positively impact the lives of others, and surrounding yourself with positive people.
