Come! Let Us Reason Together by Ayobami Sholola

If you are reading this, then I must congratulate you for making it into another year which promises to be a great one. 2013 has come and gone and it was a very challenging year for many and a prosperous one for some. Personally, it was a year of many lessons, I learnt few of them easily, the rest came in a hard way with a hard knock and tough experiences. But really, Its not that all bad, I experienced  breakthroughs in some areas of my life. I graduated, got a new job and achieved few other goals and am sure you can count few successes too if you really want to be sincere. Being positive goes a long way in gearing up our spirit. No doubt, It was a year full of surprises (+ves and -ves). The negative is that we went through unimaginable difficulties, and the positive is that we are able to overcome.

Now we are faced with a new year, and we can waste it away by sitting around and worrying about the things we failed to accomplish last year, or the mistakes we made through out the year. We can sit around and mope or have a pity party because things didn't go the way we wanted them to, or We can decide to make the most of this New Year that God as granted us. This could be the greatest year you have had up to this point, if you make a  decision to do whatever it takes to have a great year.
Whatever we’re going to do with our lives this year, we had better get on the move because time is moving on. Time is not going to sit still until we can make up our mind about what we are going to do.

So what are you going to do with this new year? How would you like 2014 to be better than 2013?
hmmm *deep sigh* 2013 was a tough year and this is why 2014 must count. It was a year of challenges, a year of choices. It was a year of changes. It was a year of some crises. it was a year more of a disappointment than joy, most importantly, it was a year of learning and growing up. Some of you may have experienced a loss of some kind. For some of you it may have been a year of set backs and failures

Now the bad news is there is nothing we can do to change it. The good news is we can LEARN from it and today we have the opportunity to start over and make some changes.
God brings life to us in small pieces that we know as hours, days and months. At the beginning of every year He says, let’s wipe the slate clean and let’s start with a brand new year. Its like God is saying, “ Let’s start over” and that’s the good news.

So how ready are you to start all over again? Are you ready to give it all it takes to be successful? Are you ready to launch into the deep with expectations of  great harvest?  I can sense you answered Yes! Now how should you start?

"An intelligent person aims at wise actions, but a fool starts off in many directions." Proverbs 17:24 (The Good News Version)

For many the last part of that verse describes them. It says, “ A fool starts off in many directions. ” Does that describe you? You start your year off in haste going in so many different directions at one time with no plan of action?
Then notice the words at the beginning of this verse: it says, " An Intelligent person aims at wise actions". That means an intelligent person set goals, objectives, aims, and targets.
Have you set any goals for 2014? Or are you just going to walk into this year and hope it will be better? You've got to have a plan. That is what will qualify you as an intelligent person. You need a plan! You need to set the goals.... the targets.....

Create your short term and long term goals for this year. It will help you make the most of it and achieve more. Remember, in a matter of days, lets say three hundred and something days, this year will be over again and am sure you will like to count your blessings instead of ............ So get your yourself together with a clean sheet of paper and a pen and engage your  thinking engines and draw out the necessary things you need to achieve in the next three hundred and something days. Don't forget to prioritise and do a proper documentation of it. Remember, proper preparation prevents poor performance.

But seriously though, lets us reason together, if we don't plan our future, who will?
